How does it work?
Each of the Tableau Academy courses are designed to cover specific data analysis and visualisation topics to help you learn and improve your Tableau skills. All of the courses are hands on and give you the opportunity to put what you’ve learned into practice by completing a hands on, real life project.
Most of our courses replicate a real life project and are structured as follows:
Your Role
This sets out your role in the project, it’s typically given as a role you perform for the organisation and your responsibilities. These are all based on real life scenarios and roles.
The Brief
This provides a brief outline of the project and why it’s needed in order to give you background info and context and so you can see the real world scenario the project comes from.
Required Data
Depending on the lesson you may be provided with the required data for the project, told where to get it from or how to access it. This section also provides any information you need to know about the data in order to complete the project.
Requirements
Depending on the lesson, you’re provided with the agreed requirements for the project. Typically this will guide the minimum requirements for the solution, however some lessons may included defining the requirements or may be very vague and ambiguous!
Lesson Files
This provides you with the links to any files or data needed for the solution. The final Tableau workbook is also provided here for your reference and if you want to look into how things were done.
The Solution
This is the main part of the lesson and walks you through the solution to the project for you to follow through step by step.
It’s broken down into manageable chunks and each section has both instructions and a video showing the solution being completed. We recommend reviewing the video if you get stuck or need detailed instructions.
We generally try to keep each video to less than a minute to make them easy to follow and to break the lessons down into smaller steps.
Completing The Course
Once you’ve completed the lessons we encourage you to publish your work to Tableau Public, we also publish the finished workbook there too. We also recommend adding the hashtag provided in the lesson so we can see your work and may offer feedback or share yours with other subscribers.
For every lesson we have a short feedback survey that we ask you to fill in, this will help us to ensure the Tableau Academy meet your needs and we can keep improving and offering what you want in order to level up your Tableau skills!
Who is it for?
The Tableau Academy is aimed at people that want to improve their professional skills in using Tableau and in data and analytics in general.
This may be if your looking to develop your career, land your first job or even are looking for a career change.
As a paid membership it may also be possible to have this paid or expensed by your employer as professional development, we also partner with some organisations to offer access to their employees that use Tableau.
FAQs
How much does it cost?
The launch price is £19 per month, or you can save by signing up to an annual membership for £199.
We highly recommend discussing with your employer whether you can claim this cost back under your professional development budget. We find that a lot of companies do allow this as they are keen to support employees development and this is a cost effective way of providing regular training.
